We are studying Matthew in our Junior High Class Room also, and I agree, it is a powerful book. It seems to be written for everyone, but through the Spirit I believe we each are hearing our own individual calling to be a follower of Christ and walk the path He has set before us. Keep bringing us the Word that God has put on your heart to bring us.

I LOVE POPCORN! This was the perfect sermon for me! I want nothing more than to be popping for Jesus. Sometimes I look at others instead of HIM! I think once I take my focus off HIM and put it on humans, I begin that downward spiral. I let the things people say and do be my focus. Every night when I eat my big bowl of popcorn, I will remember His words through you! Thanks...and happy popping!!

It made me happy to read about the happy day.

May God continue to bless, guide and be happy as you serve Him.

It WAS a happy day! I think God smiled with us and said, "Finally.....you're getting it! Don't be worried, trust Me for all things."

Hats off to eveyrone who contributed to the music - choir, Worship Team, Shelbie. puppets....you are all amazing and have been the voice of God to us.

To truly live in the confidence of God's presence, knowing that He is right there and that there is purpose and a plan for EVERYTHING that happens....the good and the bad alike, is really freeing. To live in the freedom, with grace, compassion and unending love is the challenge. Thanks for helping us to move in that direction, Steve.

I love the picture images! They stay with me for so much longer than just the spoken word! I appreciate the time and effort it took to put together Sunday's picture! I can be so much like the person you described who wants to punch rather than serve. Jesus works on my heart every day, and I'm so thankful He never gives up. (Though sometimes I think I see Him rolling His eyes at my behavior in that Fatherly way.) I am a constant project for Him and I will continue to grow though Word! Thank you for the part you play in my growth!
I was so blessed by Marica's song. She lives it! Thanks, Marcia!
I can hardly wait until next week to "Be Happy"!!

Steve: Your comment about whether you were being complimented or not
reinforces what I wrote to you in my first letter befor Blog. The
statement "religion promotes fear and relationship promotes trust". I
am not
sure that most people can Disconnect the one from the other. It was
hard for me until I did some research. Yes The Old Testament Talks of
killing masses of people, only Gods LOVE for his chosen people comes
out
as he time after time forgives. I think it certainly behoves ME to be
AWARE OF GOD'S WRATH when I am disobedient. Yes Jesus did die for all
and we BELIVERS are spared the Hellish damnation of Satans empire for
eternity. BBUUTT we are responsibile for our own choices. Keep
strechting my (our) minds I love mental as well as physical challengs.

Pastor Steve,
I love your creativity in presenting the morning
message. You meet us where we are and take us where you want us to go in a fun and receptive
manner.
"Xtra, Xtra, Read all about it !" truly was a cry heard in many cities. I'm not a newspaper reader. Years ago I found it very depressing. We lived in Chicago and the paper was fulll of murders, kidnapings, rape and other sorded things. I nearlly became sick with fear for the safety of my five little children. My solution was to NOT READ THE PAPER..
Last week The key note speaker at the state convention of Church Women United said there were two things we should read every day. The Bible and the Newspaper.
The theme of the conventions was "Vessels for the Lord, Wake up, Stand Up and Speak Up !" She said "In order to be active, productive working "Vessels for the Lord, first , we had to be filled with his word, and second, in order to meet the needs of a sinful world we should be aware of what is going on in THAT world.
I found it interesting that an emphasis was placed on the importance of reading the "newspaper coming at me from two completely different sources.
It is true that you used the newspaper as a tool for expressing the iimportance of getting the news out about Jesus Christ, his mercy and grace.
But the emphasis placed on knowing what is going on inthe world from reading the paper coming from two diffferent sources spoke to me.
I'm going to try to be more cognizant of the world around me in the future.
I thought the news paper articles in the Decatur Sun, (or what ever) were pretty worrisome. Especially those about our new minister. I found them hard to believe, but they were written in black and white. They must be true.

I love coming into the sanctuary on Sunday mornings. You just never know what you will have up your sleeve. It took me a little while to relax when I saw there was not a bulletin. Habit I guess, but I also depend on it to know where to be, bells for example. I loved reading the "newspaper". We may need to explain to those who read, say for example the Enquire, and believe everything in print is true, it was in fun. Or was it.....

I likes the service. It was neat to get dressed up in our Christmas clothes again, but we looked strange (or got strange looks) walking into Applebee's for lunch.

I liked hearing the other side of the story. Or rather, should I call it the entire story. You are right. We like to skip over the heavy parts of the birth of Christ. In doing so I think we miss out on important lessons of obedience and faith through the tough times.

I presonally like the worship team up top so they can be seen. They do such a wonderful job.

Props to the media team. If anyone back there ever needs a break let me know.
