I thought today’s service flowed as well as any since I have been at FBC. I could sense the spirit in a strong way and I thought we had a great worship.
Let’s recap-
The bell choir was spot on today. That was something! The bell choir’s rendition of EVERY MOVE I MAKE with the praise team leading us in that song tied it all together. In case you haven’t noticed, Mike and I are working on the beginning elements of worship- trying to start us off with a bang that brings us past the gates of praise and into a sense of worship. If you are not in the sanctuary by 9:00, there is a good chance that you will miss something that you will wish you hadn’t missed.
I like the song EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE, but the la la las drive me a little crazy. I know I know nothing about music, but la la las and the like are wasted on me.
BETTER IS ONE DAY has always been one of my favorites. It brings back memories of beach worship at Cornerstone Festival. I have, however, never been overly fond of it as a congregational song. But yesterday, it sounded great! The praise team was great leading it and the congregation sang well. I wonder how different our lives might be if we really believed the line, “Better is one day in His house than a thousand elsewhere.”
ANCIENT WORDS was new to me and I really liked it. It drew me deeper into worship.
I have enjoyed using “Spirit Song” every week as a response. The line “Jesus, O Jesus, come and fill your lambs” is an amazing prayer to sing as an act of worship.
The sanctuary choir, as always, sounded great.
Candace, thank you for your special music this morning. You rock!
RuthAnn’s children’s sermon about being thankful lead us into a special time of prayer as folks just shared items of thanksgiving. I know, not everybody can hear when we do something like that- sorry, but just knowing folks are responding is cool.
How did you like the video that we used to sum up our series, “An Ordinary Day with Jesus.” I thought it was really good. Thanks to John for doing some important editing on the video.
The sermon was intended to tie everything together and I hope it did. What did you think?
Coming up-
Jarod is preaching next Sunday.
During Advent we will do a series entitled, “The Invitations have been sent.”
At the beginning of the year, a short series covering my vision for FBC will be shared. I am posting another blog today under the catergory, “Vision.” I encourage you to check it out and respond to it.
Beginning January 25, we will begin a 50 Day Spiritual Adventure entitled “The Church You’ve Always Longed For.” I know the title ends with a preposition but I didn’t create it.
After Easter, we will start a series I am calling, “Jesus 101 – the basics”
Have a great Thanksgiving!
I thought the sermon and worship service was great. I loved the use of the video. the bell song was amazing and again it was great to see Candace up there using her talents.
Sorry – been a little under the weather and so I haven’t been writing much. Just a thought….I wonder if there are more in the congregation who would respond – but don’t know how to get to the blog (or what to do when they get there). Perhaps some Sunday we can take a few minutes (if we can project the website on the screen) and take the congregation on a quick tour of the website and demonstrate how the blog works – I bet more people would put in their two cents! I find myself checking it out periodically just to see what’s new.
